In the face of death, we long for tenderness, forgiveness and redemption
When a woman dying of cancer in early twentieth-century Sweden is visited by her two sisters, long-repressed feelings between the siblings rise to the surface.
In a manor house, set on a vast country estate, CRIES AND WHISPERS explores the haunted family relationship of three sisters. Agnes, the oldest, is living in great pain the final stages of an incurable illness. Her two sisters, Karin and Maria, have come to her bedside but despite a certain closeness from childhood their self-absorption inhibits them from showing any true love towards Agnes. It is only in her faithful servant Anna that Agnes finds some solace.
