Murder in the Building

Psycho Next Door
Writer François makes a living crafting thrilling historical crime stories, but his real life is dull. His partner Colette, a Sorbonne professor and Hitchcock expert, longs for excitement. When she begins to suspect their flamboyant actor neighbor of murder, their mundane lives are turned upside down, and their stagnant relationship is reignited.
A witty, Hitchcock-inspired comedy set in a Parisian neighborhood, with an atmosphere reminiscent of Agatha Christie novels. A film professor obsessed with suspense and her partner, a writer of historical crime stories, begin to believe they have witnessed a murder committed by their unconventional neighbor, a Shakespearean actor. Echoing the voyeuristic premise of the cult film Rear Window, the initial suspicion quickly evolves into an elaborate amateur investigation. The line between reality and imagination blurs as the couple projects cinematic logic onto everyday life. As they spy and speculate, they delve deeper into the alleged crime. Their stagnant relationship unexpectedly comes alive through shared intrigue and adventure. Balancing irony, romance, and suspense, the film explores our perception of fiction and transforms ordinary reality into a stage where anyone can become part of the story.
