A recently divorced man meets an emotionally devastated widow and they begin a love affair.
A Passion is a psychological charmber play in which Andreas, living of his own volition an isolated life on an island, is drawn together for a brief time with three people. Elis is a successful but emotio-nally cold architect. His wife Eva is an in¬somniac, perpetually trying to accommo¬date herself to those about her and com¬pletely dependent on her apathetic husband. Anna, an acquaintance, is a widow since a car accident killed her husband and child. In the past six months she has lived with Andreas. The decisive events have all happened before the film begins. They are disclosed not through the conven¬tional device of flashbacks but in letters and dialogue.
