Berg-Ejvind is banished to Iceland for stealing a sheep to feed his starving family. Falling in love with a rich widow farm-owner named Halla, Berg-Ejvind is tracked down out of jealousy by the local bailiff who tries to arrest him. Berg-Ejvind flees into the mountains and Halla follows.
